Description
This final video looks at how carers can support a loved one who is beginning to consider changing their self-harming behaviour.
Jenny presents a collaborative five-step approach for identifying behaviours, exploring triggers, considering possible alternatives and planning small, achievable experiments. It includes practical examples using tools such as the ABC framework, anxiety stepladders, readiness questions and SMART planning.
The emphasis is on patience, safety and working at the loved one’s pace while helping them build confidence in healthier ways of managing difficult emotions.
