Description
Supporting someone who self-harms can leave carers feeling stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain about whether their own responses are helping. This video presents a structured five-step model that carers can use to reflect on their behaviour and experiment with small, manageable changes.
Jenny explores how to identify a behaviour you may wish to change, understand its triggers and consequences, consider a range of possible responses and review what happens. Case examples include turning a blind eye to self-harm, managing powerful emotions and moving towards calmer, more supportive caring responses.
