There has been much written recently about the NHS shortcomings in supporting families affected by eating disorders especially since there has been a huge increase in demand throughout COVID. Many youngsters have been cared for in general paediatric wards for many weeks or months, usually by staff who do not have specialist training in eating disorders, but who are totally dedicated to the safety and welfare of our youth, and who have gone the extra mile to support these very sick individuals whilst the search for a specialist bed goes on in the background.

One of our local families, whose daughter was treated at Pembury for 77 days before being transferred to a specialist unit are now raising much needed funds for the Hedgehog Ward by walking 77 miles during August culminating in Knole Park over the August Bank Holiday.

Every small donation makes a difference and so if you can spare a few moments please do have a look at the fundraising page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/issyjourney2021 and give a little back. Your donation will go towards providing much needed mental health support to patients being held in the Hedgehog ward.
