Our topic in November was preparing for Christmas when you have an ED in your midst.
Our guest Caroline suffered with anorexia for 30 years and is now fully recovered. She spoke about what it feels like in the lead up to Christmas and over the Christmas period as someone with an eating disorder and how, as a carer, you can help a sufferer to feel less anxious and scared about what can be a very stressful and frightening time.
She gave ideas and tips to carers about how they can best help the sufferer – things they say that are helpful or unhelpful, things they can say to the wider family and friends, and ways in which they behave which may lead to tension and upset – all based on Caroline’s personal experience of 30 Christmas’s with an eating disorder and her work now as an eating disorder therapist.
